In August 2019, the renowned sports and fashion brand PUMA opened an impressive flagship store in New York City, spanning two floors. The innovative facade construction of the retail store combines two different types, which are both aesthetically pleasing and functional.
On the upper floor, the facade features a suspended steel-glass construction, supported against wind loads by a horizontal beam above the ground floor facade. This construction consists of 54 square units, each composed of four triangular insulating glass units. These glass units protrude approximately 10 cm from the facade plane. Through the inclination of the glass and a screen print, backlit by the ADONIS ARCHITECTURAL IP67, a striking star-shaped pattern is created, bringing the facade to life. The XOOLINE IP67 runs along the outside of the facade, providing distinctive accent lighting in red.
The horizontal beam also serves as the upper support for the ground floor facade, which ends flush with the ground in the lower area. This facade consists of large insulating glass units with a height of nearly 4 meters and vertical silicone compounds, creating an impressive all-glass construction.
This thoughtful lighting solution highlights the unique architecture of the Puma flagship store and creates an inviting and dynamic atmosphere for all visitors.
